Ticket to ride

It was at the bottom of a drawer. I recognized it immediately. It is a ticket to ride to the deep Buenos Aires. It is equivalent to a subway trip .
I do not remember until when  it was valid .
I only remember an underground hall where a street performer played a bandoneon ... and it gives me goosebumps.

Estaba en el fondo de un cajón. La reconocí de inmediato. Equivalía a un viaje al profundo Buenos aires,un viaje en subterraneo.
No recuerdo hasta cuando tuvo vigencia. 
Sólo recuerdo algun pasillo de subte donde un artista callejero tocaba un bandoneon ... y se me pone la piel de gallina.

Courage women

Mariquita Sánchez de Thompson 1786 - 1868. A pioneer woman in  Argentina. She refuses to marry the man her father chooses, then Buenos Aires was a colony . She faces the mandates of her time and takes refuge in the Retreat House Espirituales. 

In this playground she  spent much of her hours ...

Fortune ticket

It was free, magically appeared on a bus or a train.It made us happy. That palindrome or capicúa was a lucky number.

We kept the ticket as an amulet and also collected it. They were part of our daily fortune until electronic ticket came and the magic was over.

Era gratis, aparecía mágicamente en un boleto de colectivo o de tren. A grandes y chicos nos producía alegría al recibirlo.Ese número capicúa o palíndromo nos anunciaba la suerte.

Se guardaban como amuletos, y también se coleccionaban. Eran parte de nuestra diaria fortuna hasta que llegó la electrónica y la magia se marchó.

The song you hear is "the firulete" . The firulete is a choreographic figure. Maradona also danced on the field.

Este video es una milonga, hecha de fútbol y magia.

El tema musical que suena es "el firulete" . Esta palabra representa a las figuras coreográficas del tango. Maradona también bailó en la cancha.

Two faces

River PLate is the mirror. Buenos Aires and Montevideo its two faces. Its reflection in the building Barolo, Buenos Aires, and Salvo building, Montevideo.

They were built identical in the 20´. Their ecletic style represent Dante´s Divine Comedy. They are the opulence of the past.

El Río de la Plata es el espejo . Sus dos caras : Buenos Aires y Montevideo. Su reflejo el edifico Barolo en  Buenos Aires, y el edificio Salvo en Montevideo.

Construidos idénticos en la década del 20, de estilo ecléctico, representan a La Divina Comedia del Dante. Son la opulencia de otras épocas.

Surely, the first truck fleet.

I look at and I can see it in the time tunnel through the streets honking their glass bottles as a caller of joy.

Seguramente, el primer camión de la flota.

Lo miro y me parece verlo, en el túnel del tiempo por las calles de tierra haciendo sonar sus botellas de vidrio como un llamador de alegría.

An eclectic winter make plants crazy, although they give me flowers.

Un invierno ecléctico que enloqueció a las plantas, pero me regaló sus flores.

I thought that they were lost. 

But,  they appear delicate small, beautiful , scented white violets.

They are in my garden since I can remember; what a great surprise!

Pensé que las había perdido.

Pero, aparecieron pequeñas, delicadas, unas hermosas violetas blancas, tan perfumadas. Están en mi jardín desde que recuerdo, qué buena sorpresa!

It had an air chamber tied with these laces and inflated manually with a peak .It was made of leather. It was heavy and hard to play with, plus it was wet.There must be real passion to used it. 

Una pelota con tientos o cordones . Un lujo para jugar al fútbol en 1935.

Tenía una cámara de aire atada con estos tientos y se inflaba con la boca mediante un pico. Estaba hecha de cuero. Era dura y pesada, más si estaba mojada. Había que sentir mucha pasión para jugar con ella.

Bus boat

An adventure day is to travel in a bus boat. In Parana Delta, a few minutes from Buenos Aires city, between islands and channels surrounded by  wild nature it is sailing on wooden boats along waterways like bus on streets.

Locals travelling from island to island and tourist just take a ride. Bus boats dock at small quays on coast, and guards help to get in and get off. There is so much to explore there ...

Un día de aventura es viajar en la lancha colectivo. En el Delta del Paraná, a unos pocos minutos de Buenos Aires, entre islas y canales rodeados de naturaleza casi salvaje se navega en botes de madera por los canales como si fueran colectivos en calles.

Después de los catálogos, las estanterias de piso a techo repletas de libros, una sala y otra, y otra más; apareció ante mis ojos el patio. Sobrio, casi austero, sólo había un banco y frente a él el cartel. Con sólo leerlo me dí cuenta que no se necesitaba nada más.

Five o´clock tea

A street snapshot. This dog was not lost. His owner was walking and decided to bring something for tea-time.

He gave his pet a mordillo, and before closing the glass door of the bakery he hooked the pet leash to the door. The  dog owner entered to the shop, while it waited patiently for his return  ... It happened a sunny spring afternoon in the neighborhood of Palermo, Buenos Aires city. 

Una instantánea callejera. Este perro no estaba perdido. Su dueño paseaba y decidió llevar algo para la hora del té.

Le dio a su mascota un mordillo, y antes de cerrar la puerta vidriada de la panadería enganchó la correa a la puerta mientras su mascota esperó pacientemente el  regreso de su dueño ... sucedió una tarde soleada de primavera, en el barrio porteño de Palermo.

River Plate Sunset

A  sunset can arouse beautiful feelings.

That afternoon I was  crossing River Plate in ferry. It was windy. When I went on deck, I found other surprise. Many people trying to take a photo, and many others were sick...One coin , two sides.

Un atardecer puede despertar hermosos sentimientos. 

Esa tarde, en ferry cruzando el Río de la Plata estaba muy ventoso. Cuando subí a cubierta , me encontré con otra sorpresa. Muchos tratando de tomar una foto y otros más descompuestos por el movimiento... Dos caras de una misma moneda.

Exotic garden

Every spring I look for a excuse to stop by the house that has this exotic garden. I wait for the moment to see these wonderful land orchids flowered in lilac.

Todas las primaveras busco un excusa para pasar por la casa que tiene este exótico jardín. Espero ansiosa el momento para ver florecidas estas maravillosas orquídeas de tierra.

La Feria del Libro en la ciudad de Buenos Aires es un acontecimiento cultural excepcional. Cada año la visitan miles de personas.

Él estaba ahí, prácticamente en la entrada, con su presencia austera no llamaba la atención. Pasé varias veces y no lo ví. Pero,el último día a la salida mirando sin intecion lo reconocí.

Despúes de leer el título, repasando el editor que decía Companía de Jesús ... tratando de leer los números lo descubrí. "Uno de los primeros libros impresos en el Río de la Plata por los monjes Jesuitas con la única imprenta que hubo en estas tierras". ¡Un Tesoro!

The Book Fair in Buenos Aires city is a unique cultural event. Every year, thousands of people visit it.

He was there, almost at the entrance,with its austere presence.It did not attract attention. I went several times and I  did not see it. But the last day to exit looking without intention, I recognized it.

After reading the title, publisher reviewing the Company of Jesus  ... trying to read the numbers I found.I realized it was one of the first books printed in the River Plate by Jesuits monks in the only press that was in these lands. ¡A treasure!.

A day when I was walking the hallway of a hotel, I found it.

I was amazed : a pretty pram, made in handcrafted iron.

With tenderness, I think of the baby who had a ride a sunny day...

Actualmente se utilizan objetos viejos en la decoración,lo que se denomina "estilo vintage".

Recorriendo el pasillo de un hotel hacia las habitaciones lo encontré. Me asombró, desconocía un objeto así : un precioso cochecito para bebé , hecho en hierro. Me dio ternura pensar que niño paseo alguna vez un día soleado.

On Sunday I saw "scent of a woman." I like the dancing tango scene,the climate they create...

The actors dance the tango "by a head".It  is hard to believe ,that such a song identified with Argentina,is part of a film  of such a different culture.

El domingo volví a ver "perfume de mujer". Me gusta la escena donde se baila el tango "Por una cabeza", el clima  que crean los personajes...

Me emociona que una canción tan identificada con Argentina forme parte de una película de una cultura tan diferente.

I remember sitting next to the cockpit,during the  travels and feel a little motorman ...

Cien años de trabajo.Se jubilaron.
